#1 riding in cars with boys

Seen the movie? Me neither. At least not that I can recall. That’s beside the point anyway.

This, whether you like it or not, is a good mates Nissan 180SX type X. When you think of 70’s, 80’s and 90’s tuner cars (if you do at all), you think sleek body lines, tough aerodynamics, timeless styling, nostalgic edge and most of all, unrivalled drivability.

Or, you think “seriously, what is it with boys and their cars?”

Unless you’re a boy who doesn’t care for cars, in which case, I’m sorry but I can’t help you here. Have fun in your camry , or your getz, or daddy’s Tesla. Whatever.

If you grew up in the 90’s, these vehicles are hardwired into your subconscious, buried deep within the unreachable archives of your hippocampus, along with Pokémon, Barbie, Dragon Ball Z, Sailor Moon and Cheez TV.

It’s like an aroma long forgotten until smelt again, something you were exposed to at a young age which you may not have vivid memory of, but it sure as all hell was, and is a part of what you are today.

Sure, cars are cool, but it’s what they do for us that really gets me.

– Gets you from A to B, check.

– Make vroom vroom when you push down on the loud pedal, check.

– Gives you something to spend your time and money obsessing over, check.

– An outlet for expression, modification, and don’t give a flying toot if they’re painted pastel pink, canary yellow or gunmetal grey, check.

I could write forever on cars. I’ve got lots of photos of them too. They’re more influential on our race (Get it? Race? Ah, never mind) than you might know. But we’ll leave that for another time.
